What the court considers to be the most serious assault occurred in a hotel room in connection with a work trip in 2019.

There, Skiensmannen, in his 20s, had agreed to share a room with a male colleague of the same age.

Later that night, according to the verdict, he must have lifted the duvet off the colleague, and masturbated the person without him noticing. At the same time, he filmed the abuse.

The victim was unaware of what had happened, until he himself was informed about the incident in an interview with the police four years later.

This is according to public prosecutor Christer Gangsø, who was the prosecutor in the case.

– This was completely new to him when the police showed him what they had found among the seizures, he says to NRK.

Filmed children and adults in their own bathroom

The man has also been convicted of a number of cases where he has filmed children and adults in his own bathroom with a hidden camera.

Among those filmed are the man’s ex-partner, her friend and a former sister-in-law.

He took care of footage that showed them naked.

In addition, friends of the children were filmed when they went to the toilet.

The man has also been convicted of searching for and storing sexualized images of children.

Revealed online

The matter was first discovered by the non-profit organisation NCMEC.

In the autumn of 2022, the Norwegian Criminal Investigation Service tipped off that 11 files had been uploaded which showed sexualized images of children aged 13-15.

This was linked to the man’s name in Skien, and the South-Eastern Police District launched an investigation into the case.

The court decided that there were grounds for a search, and on 18 April 2023 the police went into action.

Both the man’s home and his workplace were searched.

Several digital devices were seized which the police examined in more detail. There they made great discoveries.

– Among the seizures was found what turned out to be evidence of other criminal offenses related to video recordings and photos taken by other people in the convict’s home, Gangsø says.

– Fascination for nudism

A total of 365 unique media files were found which are categorized as abuse material/sexualisation of children.

The defendant has explained in court that he has a fascination for nudism, and that he has therefore surfed various websites and saved nude images of both children and adults.

He explained that he started by searching and saving sexualized images and films of children from when he was in secondary school.

During that period, he found the grossest images and films found by the police on his computer.

He also explained that in the years from 2020 to 2023 he searched a lot on open websites. He acknowledged that he had searched for and saved sexualized images of children during this period.

He stored the photos and movies in folders on his computer, and numbered the photos.

– He should not have shared private recordings online, says Gangsø.

Accepts the verdict

The man has by a long way acknowledged all charges.

He was sentenced to prison for two years and four months in the Telemark district court. He must also pay compensation of NOK 130,000 to the man who was assaulted on a company trip.

The sentence corresponds to the prosecutor’s claim.

– My client has accepted the sentence, says the man’s defender, Jonny Sveen, to NRK.

He does not wish to comment further on the matter.

The verdict was handed down in February, but only made available to the public on 29 April.
