Camilla found her cat in a pool of blood with a broken neck and jaw:

--

On Friday, Camilla Hasle Myhrvold found her cat dead in a pool of blood with its neck and jaw broken at Ole Bull’s gate and Torshovgata in Oslo.

She describes “Bobby” as a curious and social grey-striped cat. A cat the neighbors knew. He was only nine months old when it came to the Myhrvold family, and yesterday when he died he was just 14 months old.

– Bobby wanted to go out and I let him out at seven in the morning, and continued my daily chores, until I got a message from a neighbor at a quarter past eight and ran down the stairs. Then I found him out in the backyard, with several of the neighbors around him. It was inside by the wall between some chairs and a pile of planks, so that a car would not get to it. The collar had been taken off and we found it a few meters away, she says and adds:

– The jaw and neck were broken, and there was blood spatter all over the wall, the ground, chairs and planks. It was absolutely horrible! I was first shocked, then devastated. Some neighbors put a blanket over Bobby, she says.

Want to know

She went on to say that no one had heard or seen that anything had happened. Some of the neighbors had been out at half past eight and then they hadn’t seen Bobby either.

– That means that something must have happened to Bobby between half past eight and a quarter past eight. It is very busy in the backyard, with several neighbors out and about, and several craftsmen present since construction is underway in the neighborhood. There is a block of windows facing the backyard. There is also a Coop Extra nearby with a surveillance camera, but unfortunately no one has been able to help us, she says.

Just down the street there is also a vet and Camilla decided to take Bobby there. The vet told the family to report to the police, which the family did. That led to the police also coming.

Inflicted trauma

– Both the police and the vet concluded that the cat had suffered trauma. I asked if Bobby was hit or if someone had stepped on him, or deliberately hurt Bobby. Unfortunately, they couldn’t answer that, she says and adds:

– I almost hope that he has been hit rather than that someone has done this deliberately. Now we go and gnaw all the time on what has happened.

Camilla goes on to say that the whole situation has been traumatizing for the family, and that the plan is now to find out what has happened to Bobby in the hope of getting some answers. That is why she published a post on the Facebook page Torshov’s friends. At the time of writing, the post has received 41 comments and eight shares, but no one has given them the answer to what has happened to Bobby.

– We are in grief and shock, and are troubled by the fact that we do not understand what has happened. Therefore, I hope that if there is anyone out there who knows something, they can speak up, because it would have helped us in our grief, concludes Myhrvold.
