On Thursday 28 March, Maundy Thursday, the police went to a traffic accident at Ostereidet center around 11:10.
The accident happened just before the exit to Ostereidet center on the E39 in the northbound direction. A car drove over the edge and hit the guardrail.
The incident did not result in personal injuries to the two people in the car, but resulted in damage to the wheels and wheel suspension.
– We got control of the driver of the car when we arrived at the scene. But the driver had a person with him that we couldn’t control, says Superintendent of Police, Kurt Inge Hordvik.
He adds that the police would have liked to have made contact with this person as well.
– We do not know what caused the incident, but we suspect drug-related driving.
– Disappeared without a trace
He says that the police now want tips about this person from the public.
– The person must have walked along the road carrying two bags; one green and one with a camouflage pattern. Those involved must have walked past the center and down the local road towards Ostereidet.
Hordvik said that the police searched for those involved afterwards with both a dog and a drone, without finding anyone.
– The person had disappeared without a trace. Perhaps they hid in the terrain, or were picked up by another car and driven on. We don’t know.
It is not certain whether it is a man or a woman, but the police believe it could have been a man, says Hordvik.
