(Elbil24): Xpeng has made a mark in Norway recently with the SUV G9 – a model that has impressed with its long range, lightning-fast charging and powerful performance.

The SUV has soon been registered in 900 copies in Norway and did well in Elbil24’s triple test against the Audi Q8 and Nio EL6:

TRIPLE TEST: Three highly relevant SUVs

Now another exciting model from Xpeng is coming to Norway: the family SUV G6 will have its Norwegian premiere at the SHE Conference in Oslo Spektrum on April 11, and press manager Knut Arne Marcussen of Xpeng Norway tells Elbil24 that expectations are high.

– Xpeng G6 is very suitable for the Norwegian electric car market. The model places itself in a segment that the majority of Norwegian customers look to. This will be very exciting, says Marcussen to Elbil24.

– Best charging in class

The new Xpeng G6 is built on the latest generation of Xpeng’s electric car platform called SEPA 2.0. Like its big brother G9, the G6 is based on 800V technology. This means that the G6 has a charging capacity of up to 280 kW at fast charging stations.

Charging the battery from 10-80 percent takes 20 minutes, Xpeng states in a press release.

– It is very pleasing that the model can charge with up to 280 kW. It is best in class. And this is just one of many good features of the car, says Marcussen to Elbil24.

Available with four-wheel drive

The Xpeng G6 comes with a sloping roofline and is categorized as a coupé SUV, in the same way as models such as the VW ID.5, Skoda Enyaq Coupé, Volvo C40 and Tesla Model Y. These are also natural competitors for the G9, in addition to models such as Toyota bZ4X, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6 and regular Enyaq and ID.4.

Xpeng’s newcomer has rear-wheel drive as standard, but fortunately also comes with four-wheel drive. The latter version has been named AWD Performance and comes with a battery with a net capacity of 87.5 kWh. It gives a WLTP range of 550 kilometers and a top speed of 200 km/h. The G6 AWD Performance comes with 476 horsepower and a torque of 660 Nm and will do the 0-100 km/h sprint in 4.1 seconds.

The rear-wheel drive G6 version has been named RWD Standard Range and a smaller battery pack (66 kWh net). Here, the WLTP range is stated as 435 kilometers, while the performance is reduced to 258 horsepower and 440 Nm. However, the top speed is 200 km/h here as well.

Well equipped

The wheelbase on the new Xpeng G6 is 2.89 metres, which should provide plenty of space for the rear seat passengers. The luggage compartment is 571 litres.

In front of the steering wheel, you have a large 10.2-inch screen that acts as the car’s driving display, while you have a 14.96-inch touchscreen in the center console.

The new G6 comes well equipped and Xpeng points out that the following equipment is standard: 20-inch rims with Michelin tyres, a large panoramic glass roof, adjustable, heated front and rear seats, ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, 4 USB ports, two 50W induction chargers for smartphones and a 960W sound system with 18 speakers.

– Tailored for Norway

Xpeng G6 also comes with a heat pump and V2L solution. The only options you have to decide on are whether you want an electrically extendable trailer hitch and which exterior color you prefer.

– We have great ambitions to increase sales significantly in Norway and G6 will account for large parts of those sales. This model is a milestone for Xpeng in Norway, says Marcussen.

Xpeng director Claes Persson is also very happy to introduce the model to Norway:

– This car is tailor-made for Norway with class-leading charging power, a range of up to 550 kilometres, the option of four-wheel drive, advanced technology, a high level of equipment and, not least, plenty of space and superb comfort, says Persson.

Xpeng G6 can be ordered from May and will be available from the third quarter. The model comes with a 7-year/160,000 kilometer warranty. More information on prices and specifications will follow towards the end of the month.
