Scholarship in physiotherapy and women’s health

The Faculty of Health Sciences (HV), Department of Rehabilitation Science and Health Technology, has a vacant one-year position as a research fellow in the field of physiotherapy and women’s health.

The fellowship period is four years in a 100% position, with a 25% teaching obligation, and desired entry on 1 October 2024.

There is extensive research activity at the institute and several research groups have been established. The candidate in question will be associated with the PhD program in health sciences. Work area

The position will be associated with the research group (Re)habilitation, individual, services and society on the project “Women’s experiences of lipedema treatment: What can we learn from women’s recovery experiences following conservative and surgical treatment?”

The PhD project has a qualitative design where interviews will be used as the method. The project is specifically aimed at women’s health and rehabilitation and the issues put a spotlight on women’s experiences with conservative and surgical treatment for lipoedema. Teaching tasks will primarily be connected to the master’s program in rehabilitation, but tasks associated with other master’s programs and bachelor’s physiotherapy must also be expected.

Qualification requirements

  • master’s degree in physiotherapy/health sciences or similar (120 credits)
  • bachelor in physiotherapy (bachelor (180 SP/ECTS)
  • Norwegian authorization as a physiotherapist
  • has a good command of the Norwegian language, both orally and in writing, as well as good skills in English

Desired competence

  • interest in, and experience with, work in women’s health
  • experience with the use of qualitative methods at master’s level (preferably in connection with the master’s thesis)
  • experience in writing articles

Characteristics relevant to the position

  • ability to work independently and concentrated over time, with work that requires analytical competence and writing skills
  • good communication and collaboration skills
  • ability and desire to contribute to a good working community among fellows and researchers at the institute
  • Personal fitness will be emphasized

Terms

  • admission to the doctoral program in health sciences is a prerequisite for taking up the position. To gain admission to the Ph.D. -programmes at the Faculty of Health Sciences, applicants must have a B or better in the master’s thesis/major thesis and an average grade corresponding to B or better in the master’s degree.   • the final plan for research training must be approved and agreed upon no later than 3 months after joining. In special cases, applicants with a grade of C may be considered. In such cases, the applicant’s merits after completing the major/master’s can be emphasised, for example peer-reviewed publications. This must be explained in writing in the application, preferably in the form of an attachment from the main supervisor.
