TRONDHEIM (Nidaros): Several police patrols moved out on Thursday to a housing estate on Heimdal in Trondheim after a food delivery person warned of a threatening situation.
That’s what operations manager Svein Erik Wagnild in Trøndelag police district says at 5 p.m.
The food delivery boy, who is a minor boy in his teens, was supposed to deliver food to a person in the neighbourhood. When he rang the doorbell, he was met by a man with a firearm, according to the police.
– No good explanation
– He got scared, pulled back and called the police. We then launched an operation where the patrols were armed, and we quickly gained control of the person in the house, says Wagnild.
The firearm the teenager reported turned out to be an air weapon. According to Wagnild, the food delivery man thought the weapon was a real gun.
The man in his 30s who opened the door is taken into custody. Wagnild does not know what was the background for the threat.
– The man had no good explanation as to why this had happened, says the operations manager.

Followed up on the spot
The police will question both parties on Maundy Thursday. There was no one else at the address but the man who has now been brought in.
– He is not very well known by the police from before, says Wagnild.
The lawyer on duty in Trøndelag police district, Anne Haave, says that the suspect has arrived at the police station and will be questioned.
– The victim was questioned and followed up at the scene. Then we will assess later whether there is a need for further questioning, says Haave just before 6pm.
