– Deep down I know this is just the beginning of a new chapter for me and my hope is that I continue to inspire others to continue to prioritize their mental health, fight for yourself and others by using your voice, and be never afraid of what the future brings, even if it feels uncertain, she writes on Instagram.

A spokesperson for the Miss USA organization told CNN they support Voigt’s decision.
– The well-being of our title winners has the highest priority, and we understand that she needs to prioritize herself now, says the spokesperson.
The organization also announces that it plans to pass the Miss USA tasks on to another candidate.
Savannah Gankiewicz from Hawaii came in second place behind Voigt, and may thus be the one to take over the Miss USA title.
