Qatar’s former princess, Kasia Gallanio (45), was found dead in her house in Marbella on Sunday 29 May. It reports the Spanish website El Mundo.
Although an autopsy is scheduled to be performed this Tuesday, initial investigations appear to suggest that the cause of death may be an overdose of drugs.
Police are said to have entered Gallanio’s home in Marbella after the daughters did not get hold of her for several days.
Gallanio is an American of Polish descent, and was previously married to Abdelaziz bin Khalifa Al-Thani (73), uncle of the emir of Qatar.
The former couple has long been in a lawsuit over the right to care for their three daughters. The legal battle extends over a decade, when Al-Thani was accused of sexually abusing one of the daughters. She must have been between nine and 15 years old when the incidents took place. The Qatar minister has always denied the allegations.
The daughters currently live with their father in Paris.
