Mike Tyson (58) has achieved just about everything a boxer could wish for in the sport – his next opponent Jake Paul (27) has only 10 professional fights behind him.
But the butterflies are well and truly present, even for “The Toughest Man on the Planet,” who admits he’s “terrified” of the fight against the former YouTuber.
– I have a slightly unusual personality – I don’t think it’s weird myself. Whatever I’m afraid to do, I do it. It’s just the way it is, Tyson told Sean Hannity on Tuesday night.
– I was afraid of the match against Roy [Jones Jr. i 2020].
– Despite the fact that I was 100 kilos overweight and at the age of 54, 53, I said: ‘Let’s do it.’ I confront everything I fear. This is how I am as a person. Right now I’m terrified.
But that’s what drives Tyson to get back in the ring.
– I have always believed that challenges and nervousness have largely contributed to my success. Without these feelings, I would not have entered this fight. I need these feelings to fight. Without them I would never have set foot in the ring.
Tyson will be completely focused on the task, and “the nervousness will subside”.
– The closer the match gets, the less nervous I get, because it is reality. And in reality I am unbeatable.
Tyson says Paul has come “a long way from making YouTube videos.”
– I saw a YouTube video of him when he was 16, where he did weird dances. That’s not the guy I’m going to fight, he said. “This guy will attack, he will try to hurt me, which I am used to, and he will make a serious mistake.
