– The Q6 belongs to the next generation of electric cars from Audi

Audi in Norway opened for orders for the Audi Q6 e-tron earlier this year, long before any of the customers had physically seen the car, and the first deliveries are not until the summer.

But as one of the few countries, the Norwegian importer has got hold of a pre-production edition that will go on a mini-tour in Norway.

The first stop is the Møller group’s brand new facility in Jessheim.

– We have noticed great interest in the Q6 e-tron, that is one of the reasons why we have got a car here, says Harald Eibak, director of Audi Norway.

He does not want to reveal any order figures, but says they are so good that Audi has prioritized sending a car.

The Q6 is built on a new dedicated platform (read the test drive here), called PPE, which has been developed in collaboration with Porsche. Which means that the Porsche Macan, which is also just around the corner (read the test drive here), and the Q6 share a lot of technology and technology.

– This is an important anniversary for us, with the Q6 e-tron the Q family is complete.

The Q6 naturally places itself between the Q4 e-tron and the Q8 e-tron, both in size and price. Eibak still believes that it is the Q4 that will sell the most, followed by the Q6 and Q8, simply because of price.

Proportions

The starting price for the Q6 is NOK 759,900, while the Q4 with Quattro starts just under NOK 500,000. The entry-level model of the Q6 has a battery of 100 kWh (94.9 kWh net), a range of 619 kilometers and four-wheel drive.

It is well below the cheapest Macan, which starts at NOK 876,839. Eibak says that sum will give a very well-equipped Q6.

At the same time, the performances are somewhat higher in the Macan, 408 against 388 horsepower. The more powerful SQ6 has 517 horsepower and a starting price of NOK 949,900. Otherwise, the top version of the Macan Turbo costs from NOK 1,236,728, it has 639 horsepower. Eibak says this is connected to where the brands place themselves in the market, and he is, not surprisingly, very satisfied with the Q6.

– The Q6 belongs to the next generation of electric cars from Audi, and we believe the car is perfectly proportioned in its size.

Unlike its siblings, the wheels are pulled further out in the corners on the Q6, and the wheelbase is virtually the same as on the 13 centimeter longer Q8, while the Q6 is just as wide and two centimeters higher.

It provides good interior space, with a boot that holds 526 liters and a trunk of 64 litres.

Inside, there is also a new driver’s environment, obviously with a lot of screen, which is supported by a new MMI architecture and an “assistant” you can talk to.

– Rising curve

Eibak makes no secret of the fact that the market in Norway today is complicated, and that a car the size of the Q6 has many competitors. He estimates a total market of between 100,000 and 120,000 new cars this year, which is something completely different from previous years, and more similar to the situation after the previous financial crash in 2008 and 2009.

– At the same time, we have a rising curve in a falling market.

So far this year, Audi has grown by six per cent in a car market that has fallen by 13 per cent, according to figures from the Road Traffic Information Council.

He also points out that they can offer more in the future in 2024. The e-tron GT comes with a powerful technical upgrade, similar to the one Porsche Taycan comes with. In addition, the successor to the A6 model, the electric A6 e-tron, will be available in both sedan coupé and station wagon. The A6 is based on the same platform as the Q6.
