Early in the morning on Saturday, May 4, influencer Maria Alejandra Villegas was driving along a highway in Medellin, Colombia.

In the car, she had her boyfriend and three friends with her. They were out to buy dinner, says Maria, better known as “MAV”, on TikTok.

However, the excursion, whose aim was to secure a couple of burgers for the evening, came to an abrupt end:

Maria’s pink car ended up in the guardrail and smashed parts of the front of the car.

– It was a total wreck, it was very frightening. We lost control, she says in a video that is now going viral.

The young influencer has himself shared photos from the destroyed vehicle – which has caused major reactions on social media.

– Is it possible to be so stupid. You could have died, rages a follower.

– Damn how irresponsible you are. The fact that you are now making fun of it is distasteful, writes another.

The criticism is hailing

Several of Maria’s followers are now questioning how the car crash could take place. Some believe that she could not have followed along the way.

The influencer himself is aware that it was all an accident.

– We had to turn off the road, and the asphalt was wet after a lot of rain. I don’t know exactly what happened, but it was slippery and suddenly we drove straight into the guardrail, she continues.

She also says that the friends in the back seat had back and neck pain, but that everyone was fine.

– It was awful, but it could have been so much worse. We are all safe, and fortunately I have full insurance on the car, she says, clearly relieved.

A spokesman for the police confirms to the newspaper El Espectador that they responded to a car accident on Saturday 4 May in Las Palmas Medillin. Both police and paramedics were on the scene.

No one was seriously injured, but the car had to be towed away.

At the time of writing, it is boiling in the comments section on both TikTok and Instagram. Several write that they are happy that it went well with everyone in the car. At the same time, several criticize the driving.

Maria herself has taken to TikTok on several occasions after the car accident to deny various rumors that abound. Among other things, the young woman is accused of being drunk while driving.

– I wasn’t drunk and I wasn’t distracted. It was an accident, finished with the matter, she says in a clip.
