Jillian Champ (24) from the state of Virginia in the USA developed an eating disorder as a 15-year-old, reports the news agency South West News Service (SWNS).

Champ was afflicted with the condition known as morbid overeating. The disorder is characterized by frequent episodes of consuming large amounts of food, according to Norwegian Health Informatics.

Large quantities

In the years that followed, Champ ate several McDonald’s breakfasts, six donuts and 20 chicken nuggets every single day. That resulted in five fast food meals every day on average.

She ate muffins, and drank a lot of coffee with sugar and soft drinks as well.

– When I was growing up, I thought I was fat even when I wasn’t because I had a bad relationship with food. When I got my eating disorder, I literally couldn’t stop eating. I felt terrible and I hated being overweight, but I didn’t know how to stop, she tells SWNS.

By the time she was 20 years old, her weight had doubled. Then Champ weighed 127 kilos, and wore size XXXXL on his clothes.

The turning point

One night three years ago, when Champ was standing in front of the bathroom mirror, she decided to change her habit.

– I saw my stomach hanging over the shirt. Then I thought: “I can’t believe I’ve done this to myself,” she says.

In addition to the fact that she had lost her self-confidence, the 24-year-old says that her health had deteriorated. She had to make changes.

Three years ago, she started the change. Champ cut portion sizes, started exercising and chose low-calorie meals like salad and chicken dishes.

Two moves: Andrea lost 35 kilos

– I started to lose weight, but it wasn’t always easy. I remember sitting and crying when I felt it was too difficult. But seeing the number on the scale go down showed me that I could do it, so I kept going. Looking back, I never thought I would be able to stick to the diet and exercise plan, but I’m so glad I did, says Champ.

Could barely move

She says that she was unable to stand for more than 30 minutes when she was at her heaviest.

– I was so overweight that I could hardly move. I had back problems and constant pain in my feet. I even remember dreading getting up from the couch just to go to the bathroom.

When Champ began to change his lifestyle, much of the scheme was about planning his meals well in advance.

Rapid weight loss

She focused on preparing food with a lot of protein and volume, but little calories. She realized she could recreate many of her favorite dishes in a healthier way.

During the first two weeks, she lost 13 kilos.

– The first four months were an extremely difficult adaptation. I remember sitting and crying, but I didn’t give up.

As she lost weight, Champ began to incorporate exercise into her lifestyle change. Every week she went on water aerobics and mountain walks.

By June 2023, Champ had lost 57 kilograms – almost half her body weight at her heaviest. She lost another 10 pounds by having all her excess skin removed.

– Never want to go back

Today, Champ works to help other people lose weight.

Champ reveals that she could lose a little more weight before she gets married in September this year, but that she is very happy with her weight now.

– When I look in the mirror, I smile and think nice things about myself. I will never go back to the way it was before.
