Nearly three years after the fatal festival concert accident, Travis Scott and Live Nation have settled nine of the ten wrongful-death lawsuits.

In late fall 2021, 10 people lost their lives when a stampede occurred during Travis Scott’s concert at the Astroworld festival in Houston, Texas.

Now the concert organizer Live Nation has entered into a settlement in nine of the ten lawsuits about negligent homicide that were brought in the wake of the disaster, writes Variety.

The news of the settlements comes just before one of the lawsuits was due to go to court this week.

The settlements following the fatal accident come after the US Department of Justice revealed plans in April to sue Live Nation for violating antitrust laws.

The lawsuit will claim that the company “has exploited its dominant position in a way that undermines competition for ticketed events”, creating an environment where the group monopolizes the industry and beyond.

Live Nation’s lawyer Neal Manne explained during a hearing on Wednesday that nine of the lawsuits against the concert organizer and Scott had been settled.

The terms of the settlement were not released due to a gag order.

The one remaining lawsuit is from the family of 9-year-old Ezra Blount, the youngest to die in the disaster. According to the lawyer representing the family, they plan to take the case to court.

The Astroworld festival first took place on November 5, 2021 at NRG Park in Houston, Texas. The congestion cost eight people their lives on the spot, while two others died later in hospital.

Over 4,000 participants went to court with hundreds of lawsuits following the incident, with 2,400 compensation cases pending.
