In the fourth quarter of 2023, it was cottage cheese that had the largest sales increase of all dairy products, with as much as 35 percent.

Now the Information Office for Milk and Dairy Products (MELK) informs that whole milk had the largest increase in the first quarter of 2024.

– Among the milk varieties, whole milk is becoming increasingly popular in Norwegian households. While over time we have seen that consumers have increasingly chosen milk variants with less fat, whole milk sales in the first quarter increased considerably (7.7 per cent) compared to the same period in 2023, the press release states.

New change

There is also information about an increase in sales in all dairy categories.

– It is very inspiring to see that all dairy categories are making good progress into 2024. Not since the corona times have we seen an increase in all categories, including milk, says director Ida Berg Hauge in the Information Office for Milk and Dairy Products.

According to the Information Office for Milk and Dairy Products, low-fat milk is still the most sold milk variant in volume, but as previously mentioned, whole milk has seen the biggest increase.

– It is interesting to follow the development of whole milk, which shows a positive development over time. This shows that most people appreciate both the quality and diversity of Norwegian dairy products, says Berg Hauge.
