French bakers have restored their glory after the world record was taken by the Italians.

The long bread, which tastes awful for a few hours in the morning before it becomes chewy, is considered a French classic.

However, the world record for the longest baguette has been held by the Italians since bakers in Como rolled out a 132.62 meter long one in 2019.

Now the French have struck back, writes the BBC.

It was in the Paris suburb of Suresnes that solid teamwork led to a new world record: 140.5 meters measures the new record.

12 proud bakers were there to ensure that the record was set, contributing to the very important job of making sure the baguette doesn’t break in the middle.

The baguette was shared with the local population, and with homeless people in the area, the BBC writes.

The baguette bakers are not going to be unemployed anytime soon in France. If we are to believe the Guardian, 320 baguettes are sold every second in the country.
