– The Body Shop has wanted to withdraw, and we have now agreed to that as Fredrik & Louisa will enter the premises, writes center manager, Kjerstin Johansen, in a comment.
The chain is struggling
In February, the British parent company The Body Shop International was put under restructuring. Shortly afterwards, The Body Shop filed for bankruptcy in Denmark and the USA, among others, writes NTB.
The chain is also struggling financially in Norway. According to Dagens Næringsliv, the operating company Ace Shops has a total debt of NOK 62.6 million, NTB wrote in March.
“The request for reconstruction negotiations is based on the fact that Ace Shops has serious financial problems, and that the company has not found a solution to the debt problems,” says the ruling to the district court in Ringerike, Asker and Bærum.
Among the reasons for the problems are the consequences of the pandemic and the closures, as well as the fact that interest rate increases, increased electricity costs and increased rental costs have meant that the company has not been able to recoup the losses.
Moving and moving in
The center manager at Stortorvet says Fredrik & Louisa will take over both the premises of The Body Shop, but also the premises of Cutters which are next door.
– They will be moved into another room at the centre. Fredrik & Louisa will open a little later in the autumn, probably in September. Construction of a new store will be postponed due to the approaching holiday, she replies in an email.
