Possible shooting at a night club in central Oslo

The police went to a nightclub in Hausmanns gate in central Oslo on the night of Wednesday, following a report of a possible gunshot.

– There are signs inside that some kind of projectile has come loose, says police operations manager Eirik Sannes to VG.

The police received a report about the case at 01:21 on Wednesday night.

– It came in on the phone from a person on the spot. We were there within a minute and were greeted by people rushing out. It was obvious that something had happened, says the operations manager.

The police work with crime scene work, interviewing witnesses and searching for perpetrators.

– Are you looking for specific people?

– Until we have control over them, I will not say anything more about it.

– Do you know what is behind the incident?

– We do not want to go into this now.

– There have been several incidents of violence in Oslo recently. Do you think this is related to any of them?

– It is far too early to say anything about it, we are in the very beginning phase. We need to get our bearings and gather the information we need, says the operations manager.

At 03.30 the police report that they have finished at the scene, and that they have interviewed several witnesses.

– Information we now have indicates that a person has displayed a weapon and a bang was heard. We are investigating damage to the inventory which we believe may be from a projectile hit, they say.
