King Charles back to work after cancer announcement

First day back on duty after the cancer announcement, King Charles spent with cancer patients.

It was at the beginning of February that the British royal house announced that King Charles had been diagnosed with cancer.

On Tuesday, the 75-year-old was back in his official role as king, and he spent the day together with other cancer patients at the power center at University Hospital in London.

Among those who chatted with the king was Lesley Woodbridge, who was in to receive chemotherapy.

– I have to have my treatment this afternoon too, said King Charles.

While Asha Millei, who is being treated for bone marrow cancer, says she asked the king about his health.

– I said “how are you”. He replied, “I’m fine,” she tells the BBC.

Gemma Peters, who runs the cancer clinic Charles visited, told the British broadcaster that the charity is “very happy” that he is back in his public role as king.

King Charles is patron of Macmillan Cancer Support, i.e. a role in which the royal house shows recognition of organizations with social significance.

Charles became king on 8 September 2022, when Queen Elisabeth died. He was crowned on 6 May last year.

Unknown cancer diagnosis

At the end of January, King Charles was in hospital for treatment of a benign enlargement of the prostate. The king spent three nights in the hospital, according to Reuters.

But during the stay the doctors made another discovery that caused concern.

Subsequent tests showed cancer, but it is not yet known what type of cancer it is or how serious it is.

It has been confirmed that it is not prostate cancer, according to the BBC.
