Has a “double” vagina: Constantly excited

Scarlet Kaitlin Wallen, a 21-year-old student from Rhode Island in the USA, has struggled for 15 years with the very rare diagnosis of persistent genital response.

The particular diagnosis causes one to experience spontaneous, and sometimes constant, arousal undesirably.

The 21-year-old says that she first noticed symptoms when she was six, and that the condition has “ruined her life” ever since. That’s what The Mirror writes.

During the investigation of the condition, it was also discovered that Scarlet has two sheaths.

Now she hopes that, with the help of operations and treatment, she can have a normal sex life, but the operations could, in the worst case, cause her to lose all feeling down below.

– Burned constantly

At the age of six, the American first experienced a prickling sensation in his genitals. Now, 15 years later, she has few days without pain. According to The Mirror, the condition prevents her from working and studying full-time.

– I have experienced pain for as long as I can remember. My vulva was constantly burning – it was like I was naturally aroused, but I didn’t want to be. It is nerve pain and not wanted. There is no joy, says the young woman.

The pain is said to have prevented her from having a normal childhood, as she was unable to play as much with other children. Nevertheless, it took years before she told anything about the pain she experienced.

Not until she was 18 did she dare write a letter to her parents in which she described the burning feeling underneath.

In the years before that, and especially after puberty, she improvised to find temporary pain relief measures. Among other things, she used cold ointment underneath, which led to fungal infections.

The vagina “copied itself”

Fearing to meet her parents’ gaze, Scarlet wrote a letter asking for help to see a doctor. Eventually she was diagnosed with persistent genital response. At the same time, a number of other sexual dysfunctions were discovered.

During the examinations of Scarlet, the doctor thus discovered an extra vagina.

According to the doctor, her vagina must have simply “copied itself”.

Now doctors are working to remove painful tissue from her vagina, in the hope that she can lead a more normal life.

In the worst case scenario, the operations could lead to Scarlet losing all sexual desire in the future. For now, however, the doctors are hopeful that the treatment will be successful, so the 21-year-old can have a normal sex life.

– I still want to have a healthy sex life, but my choice at the moment is between living with the condition or being completely numb. I just hope that one day I will be able to live a normal life, Scarlet herself has stated.
