Wolves under-21s travel to Sunderland on Monday afternoon, as the Premier League 2 play-offs get underway.

The Old Gold finished 10thth and come up against the Black Cats who recorded a seventh place finish to ensure the home advantage.

For the first time, the format will see 16 PL2 teams compete in a knockout competition with four potential fixtures coming the way of James Collins’ side.

However, to progress into the quarter finals, Wolves must claim victory on the road at Sunderland – a team they were beaten by only last month.

Tom Watson and Marshall Burke scored the goals that night at Aggborough, despite Tawanda Chirewa drawing Wolves level.

Sunderland come into the game having won four of their final five PL2 games of the season, while Wolves are without a win in three.

The winners of Monday’s round of 16 clash will host West Ham United in the final eight following their 4-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers on Friday.
