Nikolai Patrushev on Wednesday repeated accusations that Ukrainian intelligence was behind the attack, which claimed the lives of 145 people.
– But everyone knows that the Kyiv regime is not independent and is completely controlled by the United States, Patrushev said at a conference in Kazakhstan.
A branch of the extreme Islamist group IS has said that they were behind the terrorist attack just under two weeks ago. However, Patrushev claims that it is more important to bring to light who supported the attack and was its “buyer”.
Ukraine has categorically denied that it had anything to do with the terrorist attack. The United States has said that it picked up information about a possible terrorist attack in advance, and that it tried to warn the Russian authorities.
The head of the Russian security service FSB has claimed that the perpetrators received help from several Western intelligence services. According to the Tass news agency, Russian prosecutors have on Wednesday sent requests to the United States, Germany, France and Cyprus, allegedly to obtain information about these countries’ possible involvement in the terrorist attack.
Nikolaj Patrushev made his accusations at a conference for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, where China, India and Iran are among the members.
