Car fires in Romerike

Both in Kløfta and Lillestrøm there have been car fires near residential buildings.

The police in Øst reported a fire in a car at Kløfta which is in danger of spreading to residential buildings.

– There are high flames from a car, the police write.

People are standing on a veranda and the police are working to evacuate, but the burning car is at the entrance to a residential building and prevents evacuation.

Shortly afterwards, however, the police report that the fire service has gained control and that evacuation is not necessary.

It was a terraced house that needed to be evacuated.

Residents in the area were asked to close windows and ventilation. A lot of smoke there now, the police in East wrote in a message to the press before the fire brigade got control.

Around 20 minutes later, the police district reported two cars on fire in Lillestrøm.

– There is thick smoke in the direction of two homes that we are initiating a wake-up call, possibly evacuating.

At 01.47 the police report that the fires are under control and that there is no need for evacuation.

– The cause of the fire is not known, but the police will carry out technical investigations to find the cause of the fire.

VG has so far not been in contact with the operations manager, but in a message to the press the police write that it is currently not possible to see any connection between the two fires.
