The independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy (70) feared he had a brain tumor. Then it turned out that he had a mark in his head that had eaten away at his brain.

The startling details emerged during Kennedy’s divorce proceedings in 2012.E

After the 70-year-old began experiencing “cognitive problems”, he feared it could stem from a brain tumour. Before consulting another doctor for an additional evaluation, he had already made plans to undergo surgery at a hospital in the state of North Carolina.

As he was packing and getting ready to go to the hospital, he got a call from the other doctor who had looked at images of his brain and told him it was probably a “mark that has entered the brain, eaten a piece of it, and then died.”

Kennedy himself said he did not know how or when the parasite might have gotten into his head, but suspects it may have happened during a previous trip to South Asia.

– It ate a piece of my brain, but how it got into my head, I don’t know, Kennedy is said to have explained during the proceedings of his divorce in 2012.

The newspaper The New York Times has spoken to doctors about what happened to the presidential candidate. They believe he may have contracted a pig tapeworm larva, which is known to cause seizures, headaches and dizziness as they begin to die.
