The death was announced by Gelder’s husband Ben Daniels on Instagram.
– It is with enormous sadness and a heavy heart broken into a million pieces that I announce the passing of my dear husband and life partner Ian Gelder, writes Daniels.
According to him, Gelder was diagnosed with bile duct cancer in December, and the actor died on Monday afternoon.
Throughout his career, Gelder was seen both in various TV series and on stage in London. He has had roles in “Torchwood: Children of Earth”, “Doctor Who”, “His Dark Materials” and “Poirot”, among others.
In “Game of Thrones” he played Kevan Lannister, the younger brother of Tywin Lannister (Charles Dance).
