Many cars on the roads increase the risk of accidents in the future. Over two million motorists fear collisions in traffic.

In a nationwide survey, which Respons Analyze has carried out on behalf of Fremtind, every second motorist (50 per cent) states that they are worried about colliding with other cars on the road. 46 percent of motorists fear drunk drivers.

– We are now entering the season when more fatal accidents normally occur, and this places even greater demands on us as drivers. We must be extra attentive going forward, and take responsibility for our own behavior in traffic. We strongly encourage people to take it easy on the roads, says injury prevention officer Therese Hofstad-Nielsen in Fremtind.

14 deaths in March – half due to collisions
So far this year, 22 people have lost their lives in traffic, figures from the Norwegian Road Administration show. Several of the incidents are due to hit-and-run accidents.

– Remember that high speed and overtaking can create dangerous situations for both yourself and other road users, warns the injury preventer.

An important risk-reducing measure is that we keep a good distance from the car in front.

– Be aware that the traffic pattern can change quickly. It is therefore important that we always focus on the driving itself. You must leave your mobile phone behind when you drive, concludes Hofstad-Nielsen.

This is what Norwegian motorists are most worried about when they drive:
