Kris Hallenga (38) was diagnosed with incurable breast cancer in 2009 at the age of 23, and lived with the disease for 15 years.
On Monday came the news that the 38-year-old has died.
Shocked the world – then she died
This is reported by several international media, including Sky News.
In the same year that Hallenga was diagnosed, she founded, together with her twin sister, the charity organization “CoppaFeel!”. Together they worked hard to raise awareness about the disease.
– She has not lost the fight, she was not in a fight, and would not want her death to be seen as tragic, reads a statement from the charity.
– She lived an ordinary life. She lived to be 38 years old and died with a heart filled with love.
– Kris’ wish was that no one else should be in her situation, so “CoppaFeel!” was born”. It was to ensure that breast cancer is diagnosed early and accurately.
Through her work, the 38-year-old led campaigns to have cancer education included in the school curriculum, and won the “Woman of the Year Outstanding Young Campaigner” award.
In addition, Hallenga received an honorary doctorate from Nottingham Trent University, and has written the autobiography “Glittering a Turd”.
