One person is injured and has been transported to Haukeland University Hospital.

– The person is seriously injured, but the extent of the damage beyond that is unknown, says operations manager Terje Magnussen in the West police district.

The police initially reported that a battery had exploded. The explosion is said to have occurred inside a business in Nattlandsveien.

The emergency services are working to find out what type of battery it is that has exploded.

At 10.33, operations manager Terje Magnussen states that there is a work accident with “serious personal injury” to an adult man in connection with work.

– May appear as if an explosive accident has occurred. An investigation will uncover a further cause, says Magnussen.

The police’s emergency manager Rune Vedeler says that the emergency services moved out at 09.30.

– There has been a serious work accident here. One person has been taken to Haukeland. There has been an explosive accident. We will try to find out what happened, says Vedeler.

Vedeler reckons that there are many people in the area who have been caught up in the accident.

– We are waiting for forensics technicians, and are holding talks with those involved and witnesses, says Vedeler.
