A man in his 30s has been arrested and charged with the murder of Aina Hynne (75) in Grue municipality.

– She was killed as a result of blunt force trauma to the head. The police have seized a hammer which we believe is the murder weapon, says police attorney Anja Ruud to NRK.

It was the accused who reported to the police themselves. He has admitted that he had used violence against Hynne.

She was taken to hospital, but later died at the hospital as a result of her injuries.

The accused will be remanded in custody until April 19, according to police attorney Ruud.

Unclear motive

– Now We are waiting for answers to, among other things DNA and fingerprint analyses. In addition, the police are waiting for the final autopsy report, says Ruud.

She says that two experts have also been appointed to carry out a forensic psychiatric examination of the accused.

The report is expected to be completed during April.

The accused has explained the sequence of events, but the motive appears unclear. We will have to come back to this later, says police attorney Ruud.

Have questioned the driver

The man accused of murder hitchhiked to Kongsvinger police station where he was arrested and charged with murder.

Ruud says that the police have carried out investigations at the scene.

They have also questioned a number of witnesses, including the driver who accused the hitchhiker.

– The police have questioned the driver who gave the accused a ride to Kongsvinger. The two did not know each other from before, and the driver was not aware of what the accused had done beforehand, says Ruud.
