It was the night of Monday that the woman in her 30s was found lifeless in a home on Grünerløkka in Oslo.
It was the accused himself, a man in his late 20s, who reported the incident to the police. He was arrested at the scene and subsequently charged with murder.
The investigation continues, and the accused will be requested to be imprisoned. Four weeks of letter and visitor bans are requested, the police report.
The man pleaded guilty shortly after the incident.
– He has said there were no others present, police inspector Grete Lien Metlid told NRK on Monday.
According to the police, the accused consents to imprisonment.
Knew each other well
The man accused of murder lives in the district of Grünerløkka. It was in his apartment that the deceased woman was found murdered.
The police have already confirmed that there was a relationship between the man and the murdered woman.
The deceased woman, who was in her mid-30s, was from Honningsvåg in Finnmark, a small town with just over 2,000 inhabitants.
– The municipal crisis management was activated last night, says mayor Jan Morten Hansen.
At Easter, the woman visited the accused and is said to have stayed with him temporarily for a few days.
– They were friends for many years, Metlid in the Oslo police district told NRK on Monday.
The two are said to have shared history, acquaintances and some family relationships.
– They knew each other well, but there is clearly no question of partners or the like.
The accused has explained something about the motive and what has happened. However, the police do not want to go out with the details.
– They have been out on the town together and come home at night and then this happens, Metlid said on Monday.
An autopsy will be performed on Tuesday
The man’s defender, Bjørn Rudjord, said on Monday morning that the man is affected by what has happened.
– He has taken responsibility for what has happened and will help clarify the matter. And he has accepted detention for four weeks, said Rudjord.
An autopsy will be carried out on the deceased during Tuesday.
BA public prosecutor has not been appointed in the case.
– There is currently no new information to go out with in the case as of now, Oslo Police District reports.
