The “Cyprus kidnapping”: Nordmann acquitted on all charges

Torkel, a Norwegian father of young children, who was charged in a court in the Cypriot capital Nicosia with having kidnapped his four-year-old daughter, has been acquitted of all charges.

This is revealed in the court decision from the court in Nicosia.

TV 2 has previously discussed the case against Torkel, the father of a small child, who in February this year was acquitted of the same case in Søndre Østfold district court in Norway.

In Cyprus, he was charged with kidnapping and planning the crime. Now the court acquits him – and believes that there was not even a good enough basis of evidence to go to trial against to begin with.

– The defendant is consequently acquitted, and is acquitted of all the aforementioned charges, the court decision states.

For several years, Torkel and his ex have argued about who has custody of their daughter, and whether she is Norwegian or Cypriot.

The couple were married and lived in Norway, even after their daughter was born. In 2015, the mother takes her daughter and moves to Cyprus. Two years later, in 2017, Torkel travels to Cyprus and takes the child to Norway.

This is what the prosecution considered to be an illegal and punishable act.
