Sports, Football | The RBK profiles think several people may have had a reality check: – We think too slowly

--

Bergen:

– What can you say? Disappointing. There is not much more to say, says Ole Selnæs.

He was still going to say more.

Because there were no RBK players who hid after the 3-0 loss against Brann in Bergen on Saturday evening. One by one they came out and spent a lot of time with the press after the poor performance against Brann, where RBK got their passport signed.

16-year-old Håkon Volden was the first to talk about his experience. The big talent did brilliantly against Norway’s best team last time, but had a tough time and made a couple of gross mistakes in Bergen. The RBK profiles, on the other hand, were quick to call about the youngster both after the 1-0 goal early on and in the media after the match.

– It is not the youngster’s fault that we lose this match, says captain Markus Henriksen.

Reality check?

– It’s not funny at all. I’ve had enough losses like that in the Rosenborg suit, and I’m getting quite bored. But… we just have to bounce back from this. It’s not good enough and everyone knows it. We’re going to have a really good training week now and fight back, says another youngster, Sverre Nypan, who despite his 17 years has managed to build up some routine.

Nidaros spoke to the three profiles we managed to speak to after the match in Bergen. Unge Nypan, captain Henriksen and Ole Selnæs all have a common denominator when they talk about the loss in Bergen.

When asked if any players were shocked by what happened to them at Brann Stadion, Nypan replies:

– I think maybe someone will be… I don’t know.

When asked if this was a reality check, Ole Selnæs replies:

– Maybe for some. There are many new experiences for many who have not been involved in so much before. It might be for some.

Captain Henriksen also uses the same words after being in the dressing room:

– We got a reality check that when we miss the pass, we will be severely punished. We have to take that with us as good learning, says Henriksen.

– Far too simple

Then the captain is not just referring to the fact that young Volden got a bad touch and was extremely unlucky that Ole Didrik Blomberg got a perfect arc from the ball loss, which can elegantly dive head in an arc over Sander Tangvik.

Henriksen refers to a number of situations in which he believes RBK could have punished Brann more severely and exploited the opportunities that opened up going forward. Instead, Niklas Castro sadly had plenty of time to serve Aune Heggebø early in the second half. The Brann fans’ favorite sadly had room for him too, to make it 2-0. Suddenly it started to remind of last year’s autumn, where ball watching and simple passes led to back-to-back goals after back-to-back goals.

Emil Kornvig scored a penalty, before Heggebø and Castro ended the evening by discussing who scored 3–0 after creating a red wave in front of the RBK goal.

– We let things go far too easily, but I feel that if we had been careful with the pass, the pass, if you turn straight instead of back, such small adjustments, then there would have been an opportunity to punish them. It may sound simple, says Henriksen.

– I feel that there is a lot of room to play in and many opportunities that we are not taking. I feel we see the possibilities, but then we are not precise enough. We think too slowly, the interaction may not be quite there and the precision is at least not there today. Not least, the defensive game is not good enough at all. There are 50/50 duels that become 70/30 or 80/20 in favor of Brann, adds Nypan.

Alfred spoke

– We destroy by letting in after three minutes in both halves. That’s the worst thing you can do in a fight like this. Otherwise, they create quite a bit, other than us giving them another very big opportunity. We have a couple of big chances before the break, which we have to put away. If we don’t, we will be punished. Then we can thank ourselves, summarizes Selnæs.

After the match, a beaten group went into the dressing room. The press stood right outside and even though the walls were thicker than in Marbella, where the whole country could hear Alfred Johansson’s hairdryer during the break of the 1-4 game against Vålerenga through a TV 2 clip, there was no indication of a new spat in Bergen.

– Alfred has said most if I’m honest. I haven’t said much. I was quiet, pissed off and disappointed, says Selnæs.

The RBK manager spoke in a quiet dressing room after the 3-0 loss.

– It was a tough atmosphere, so to speak, says Henriksen.

– Do you perceive Alfred as disappointed or angry?

– Disappointed. Alfred is very clear and was very clear after the match as well. It goes without saying that nobody was happy that we lost 3-0. Our mindset is that we will win no matter who we face. That they have so many chances and we have far too few, then the mood is down, says Henriksen.

– Tough in the face

– It’s a lot about skill and a little sloppiness. Instead of turning right, you turn towards your own goal. Instead of the re-lay going to an RBK player, it goes to a Brann player. That was clear to Alfred after the match as well. Today we let Brann win many of the 50/50 duels. That’s part of football too

The RBK profiles say there was nothing wrong with the entrance to the match.

This is what Alfred Johansson says after the loss in Bergen: – We had a good chat

– I felt that we were really at the station. I felt we were ready for it. It’s small details that mean we don’t punish them more. It’s about skill, says Henriksen and continues:

– Brann is offensive and tough in the face under pressure. They succeed in that a little too often. There are a couple of times we get the ball centrally, facing us, there is a run behind and it becomes a bit dangerous. There is no doubt that Brann gets to manage a little, if not a lot, he says.

Nor did Ole Selnæs have the impression that there was anything wrong with the setting before the match.

– We let in for cheap goals, it has little to do with the entrance. It is ultimately about quality. At times we manage to exploit it and then we get great chances. It will be too uneven. It is amazing that we are not more efficient than we are. We have two or three big chances before the break that we have to score. There must be goals. In the second half, we have more, says Selnæs.

– Not done in the last five years

Nypan believes that they play a bit on what Brann himself wants, with passes out to the back and so on to either an inside runner or a winger.

– We have to manage and break the trap they set, and they are good at it. We don’t solve that well enough today. It might be wise to be a little more cynical and put the ball far sometimes. But as I said, we have to try to play our game and we have to tolerate making mistakes. I don’t really feel that it’s in the free play. We have one mistake that results in a goal, but we have to put up with that, he says.

About the mistake, which led to Brann’s first goal after a few minutes, he says that it shouldn’t happen, but that they have to put up with such mistakes.

– As I said, it is learning. We have to tolerate and make mistakes and not dig ourselves for that reason, says Nypan.

The 17-year-old says that Rosenborg should weed out as many mistakes as possible, but also points out that they are trying to play football.

– And we have not done that in Rosenborg in the last five years. It is something new for many players, says the RBK talent.

– Is there a total change in the way of thinking about football?

– No, but it is a little different. Everyone sees that. No matter how good football is, what lies at the bottom is the hard work: There is intensity and 50/50 duels, the pain and the toil. We must not forget that, even if it has to look nice, says Nypan.

– Last week, the outsiders talked about the gold match

Captain Henriksen is looking forward to the future despite a nightmare week.

– Six series rounds have passed, I still have great faith in this. I am completely convinced that the more we practice, the more we dare, the better we will be, says Henriksen and receives support from Selnæs:

– We have talked a lot about knowing where we are, we are concerned with development and working in the same zone regardless of what the outside is talking about, says Selnæs and paints a small picture:

– Last week, the outsiders talked about the gold match. Just as we had to screw it up and not let it affect us then, we also have to not let it affect us now. We believe in what we do and focus on getting better and better.
