Ronaldo left Manchester United with a bang after a controversial interview with Piers Morgan. The interview was one of the last things the Portuguese did as a United player before he left for Saudi Arabia.

The 39-year-old’s second spell at Manchester United was generally quite chaotic, both for him and the club.

The Portuguese played under three managers during this period. First Ole Gunnar Solskjær, but when he was fired in November 2021, Ralf Rangnick eventually came in.

The Austrian is currently in the news again as he is being strongly linked to the coaching job at Bayern Munich. In that regard, his time at United is closely scrutinized, and this is where Ronaldo comes into the picture.

The German tabloid newspaper Bild claims to have revealed what kind of demands Ronaldo allegedly made to Rangnick when he was in charge of Manchester United.

The Portuguese is said to have made demands for how much playing time he should have, which the Daily Mail refers to as a “brutal message” to an experienced manager like Rangnick.

Ronaldo reportedly demanded to play four out of five games for United. And for the matches he did not play, the 39-year-old is said to have insisted that he should not sit on the bench with his teammates, as he would rather watch the match at home.

Criticized Rangnick

How Rangnick is supposed to have dealt with Ronaldo’s demands is not clear. The Portuguese played a total of 22 games and scored 12 goals under Rangnick’s management.

During the aforementioned interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo criticized the Austrian. Then he said that no one understood why Rangnick was brought in.

– The man is not even a coach. A big club like Manchester United brings in a sporting director, it surprised not only me but the whole world, Ronaldo said.
