Air traffic has been almost completely closed throughout Norway on Thursday morning.
At 09.30 Avinor informs VG that they are opening the airspace in southern Norway. Traffic will still be heavily affected.
– This means that we can start traffic as normal. There will still be major delays throughout the day, so it will take some time to get the flights started, says Monica Fasting in Avinor to VG.
Canceled and delays at Evenes
– The technical error affects air traffic in and out of Evenes, but expect short-haul traffic in northern Norway to go as normal, says airport manager Bjørn Isaksen, who is stuck on a flight at Gardermoen.
The Norwegian flight that was supposed to leave at 06.30 from Harstad/Narvik Airport Evenes to Gardermoen has not left Evenes. There the passengers had to leave the plane and return to the terminal.
Widerøe to Andenes and Tromsø at 08.45 is delayed, expected departure is at 09.25.
Both SAS and Norwegian cancel their flights from Evenes to Oslo at 10.50 and 11.05.
There are usually many planes in the airspace over southern Norway. Now there is none.

Two systems that didn’t talk to each other
Press officer in Avinor, Helene Wattanapradit Jensen, says that as a result, all flight departures to and from Evenes will also be significantly delayed.
– We do not yet know whether new departures will be set up throughout the day, or whether the airlines will cancel departures, and that is something that the airlines decide, Jensen tells Fremover.
Avinor is working hard to find the fault, but Jensen cannot say anything more about when they will possibly be up and running again. According to NRK, there are two systems that do not talk to each other as they should.
– In any case, there will be delays throughout the day as a result of this, she continues.
