Just over two weeks ago, Johaug competed in the three-mile race during the NM in Lillehammer. There she smashed the competition and took a superb victory.
The 35-year-old mother of young children won by almost three minutes, and the large distance down to the national team runners created reactions afterwards.

The NM three-mile was her first race against the Norwegian elite since she gave up at the top level in the spring of 2022. Now it is confirmed that Johaug will start another ski race that brings together several of Norway’s best skiers.
Johaug will go to the popular Skarverennet on 20 April.
– She has to go. I spoke to her two days ago, says Jarle Uthus to Nettavisen.
He is the leader of the organizing committee in Skarverennet, and is very pleased that Johaug is running.

Johaug has won the 37 kilometer long race eleven times before, and when she went in 2022 it was her last ski race as an active runner.
Now she is appearing again, and once again she gets to test her form before a possible comeback to the WC in Trondheim next year.
So far, Johaug has still not decided whether she will actually make a comeback to aim for the championship on home soil.
After the NM race, she told Nettavisen that it’s about the total burden with the family situation, training and that it should feel absolutely right.
– You have to be completely committed to this for it to be good, she said.
