League Two club Wrexham, which is owned by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, owes its owners around £9 million, the club said.

This corresponds to just over NOK 120 million.

The club is based in Wales and was bought by the acting duo in 2021. A sporting upswing followed, and the team is followed in the Emmy-winning documentary series ‘Welcome to Wrexham’.

The team lost the semi-final in the promotion qualification in the 2021/22 season, but moved up to League Two the following year. At the time of writing, Wrexham is in third place, with a good chance of reaching at least qualification for League One, the third level of English football.

On Thursday, the club presented the accounts for the budget year that ended in June 2023. It states that the club’s turnover has increased by 75 per cent to around £10.5 million from £6 million, but that the deficit at the same time grew from £2.9 million to £5. 1 million pounds.

– The club is not under any immediate pressure to repay the loans at the expense of the progress we want to achieve, writes the club.

Furthermore, it is stated that additional funds will be raised to support future projects.
