Norway must start the EC qualification without star forward Ada Hegerberg (28) and captain Maren Mjelde (34).

They are out with injuries and have not been in the playing squads for their respective club teams recently. As a result, they have, among other things, missed the quarter-finals in the Champions League, where Hegerberg’s Lyon and Mjelde’s Chelsea have both progressed.

On Maundy Thursday, the Norwegian Football Association presented the selection for the upcoming European Championship qualifiers. Maria Thorisdottir is also out with an injury.

Synne Jensen, who has scored a lot for Real Sociedad in Spanish football, is in Norway’s A squad for the first time since 2021. There is still no Emilie Haavi to be seen in the squad despite a good game in Rome.

Barcelona star Caroline Graham Hansen is back, and Emilie Woldvik (LSK Women) and Marthine Østenstad (Brann) are also new to the squad since the national league matches against Croatia in February.

Norway plays Finland at home on 5 April and away to the Netherlands four days later. Italy is also in Norway’s group.

The squad:

Goalkeepers: Aurora Mikalsen (Brann), Cecilie Fiskerstrand (LSK Women), Guro Pettersen (Werder Bremen).

Backs: Tuva Hansen (Bayern Munich), Guro Bergsvand (Brighton), Thea Bjelde (Vålerenga), Marit Bratberg Lund (Brann), Mathilde Harviken (Rosenborg), Marthine Østenstad (Brann), Emilie Marie Woldvik (LSK Women).

Midfielders: Ingrid Syrstad Engen (Barcelona), Vilde Bøe Risa (Atlético Madrid), Karina Sævik (Vålerenga), Lisa Naalsund (Manchester U.), Frida Maanum (Arsenal), Justine Kielland (Brann), Guro Reiten (Chelsea), Elisabeth Terland (Brighton), Signe Gaupset (Fire).

Forwards: Caroline Graham Hansen (Barcelona), Sophie Román Haug (Liverpool), Celin Bizet Ildhusøy (Tottenham), Synne Jensen (Real Sociedad).
