Lan Marie Berg: – Giving up on politics

--

MGD deputy leader Lan Marie Berg will not stand for re-election to the Storting – and is now informing the national assembly that she will also stand down as deputy leader until next year.

This is written by Dagens Næringsliv.

– It feels sad, and it has been a long process for me. But I am also sure that this is right now, says Berg to DN.

Want a referendum

– I owe it to myself

Berg tells the newspaper that the choice to give up is because she now wants to do completely different things.

– I had never dreamed of becoming a politician, and suddenly I became a city councilor in Oslo. Now after ten years, I feel that I owe it to myself to see what is outside too, she says and adds:

– It feels like I have just started, and it is strange to have to speak about this in the middle of the parliamentary term, but it is now that we politicians have to decide on the question. For me, it’s about saying no to the commitment that lasts four years after 2025, she explains.

So far, Dagbladet has not succeeded in getting in touch with Lan Marie Berg.

– Never sold drugs

– Has changed Norwegian politics

Berg’s press contact, Nora Selnæs, tells Dagbladet that Berg is highly motivated for the election campaign and that she will continue to be parliamentary leader and deputy leader of the party for another year and a half.

– After ten years as a top politician, she wants to open up to doing other things.

Party leader Arild Hermstad tells Dagbladet that Berg is one of the most important and skilled politicians Norway has seen.
