The grenade was found next to a garden at Nardo in Trondheim, according to Adresseavisen. It was the resident himself who notified the police.

There was initially some uncertainty as to whether the object that had been found was actually a grenade, but at 19.26 the police confirmed that it was.

– The police have cordoned off an area in the flower town at Nardo in Trondheim following the discovery of what appears to be a grenade. It was the resident himself who reported the find, says Trøndelag police district.

– We are in contact with the Armed Forces, who confirm that it is a grenade that has been fired, but probably not detonated, a so-called blind gang. It is probably an older grenade, the police write.

Task leader Solveig Eide told Adresseavisen earlier on Saturday that the police had a hunch that it was an artillery shell from the Second World War. It has not yet been finally confirmed.
