Several large websites in Norway are out of order on Wednesday. The reason is a major computer attack on Norway.

It must be hackers from the group Killnet who have done it. They announced on Wednesday morning that they would attack Norway. It was the newspaper Dagbladet that wrote about the case first.

Jørgen Ferkingstad tells the channel TV 2 that there is an attack on Altinn. It should have started around 2 o’clock on Wednesday night, he says. Ferkingstad is responsible for communications at Altinn.

– This is a DDoS attack. There is a lot of traffic on the site, says Hege Steinsland to the channel TV 2. She is communications manager at BankID. Hacker group Killnet said on Wednesday that they would attack Norway. They are known to use DDoS attacks.

Torgeir Waterhouse is an expert in computer security. He tells Dagbladet should avoid using BankID while the attack is ongoing.

A DDoS attack is a simple form of data attack. It is also called denial of service. This is done by overloading a website with traffic.

Wednesday morning shared a photo of Anniken Huitfeldt with a mask from the movie Maleficent. She is the Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs. The group has marked the picture with Mrs Error, or Miss Wrong. Together with the picture, they said that the attack could start.

Norwegian authorities say they are familiar with the case. But NSM has nothing to say about it, they told the news agency NTB at 10.15. NSM is the National Security Authority.

A picture of Jens Stoltenberg has recently been shared on Killnet’s channel. There he is described as their greatest enemy. They say both he, the family and those who support him are targets for the group. Stoltenberg has been Norwegian Prime Minister. He is now Secretary General of NATO’s Defense Cooperation. NATO has supported Ukraine in the war against Russia.

Killnet said a few days ago that they were responsible for a computer attack on Lithuania. It reports the news agency Reuters. Experts in computer crime in the West believe the group works on behalf of Russia.

The group also threatens to attack several other websites. Most are either public or are used by the public.

One of these is the pages of the police. Klar Tale tried on Tuesday at 10.45 to reach the police website. It takes a long time, and was unsuccessful on several attempts.

The other sites that should be at risk or under attack are:

  • The ID port at Difi
  • Directorate Nav
  • Directorate of Immigration (UDI)
  • Digitization Directorate
  • Buypass

They have also threatened to attack a website for Lithuanians in Norway. This is now out of order.

According to the comments, there may be several goals on a list, but these are unknown so far.
