Man in his 20s died after falling at Reinebringen in Lofoten – NRK Nordland

The relatives have been notified on Friday night.

– A fall accident was reported to the police at approximately 14.40. There were some other tourists who saw a person who fell down the mountainside, says operations manager Kai Eriksen at the police in Nordland.

– There were also phone calls from people who were close to the person who had fallen, and they notified the police that it looked like a fatal accident, Eriksen continues.

Police describe the incident as a tragic accident.

– It was partly foggy and may have been slippery in the area, says Eriksen.

The person who died comes from the USA and was part of a tour group of two people, the police say.

Crisis teams and support staff have been notified and are now following up the people who witnessed the accident.

The police have also opened a case.

Reinebringen is a mountain located in the municipality of Moskenes in Lofoten.

The mountain is a favorite destination for tourists in the summer, and is frequently visited by both Norwegian and foreign tourists.

The area was previously closed on Friday, but the police state that they have now chosen to open up the mountain area.

In December 2021, a woman in her 20s died after a fall on Reinebringen.

Earlier Friday, rescue leader Linda Hansen at the Main Rescue Center in northern Norway said that they had received a report from the police that there had been a fall accident.

– We have sent out resources, including a rescue helicopter from Bodø, and it is the police who coordinate the mission further, Hansen told NRK.
