Updated just now

VG has been in contact with several train passengers who have been affected. Among other things, there is a train at Myrdal, which has been stationary for over six hours.

– There is a lot of snow in the track and material destruction, says Harry Korslund in Bane Nor.

The landslide has occurred at Klevavatnet. There were no trains there when the landslide occurred.

– This is an area prone to landslides, and we have several snow covers there, says Korslund.

Stand firm: – Someone freezes

Sindre sits on board one of the trains that was hit. He left Oslo at 16:30 and should have been in Bergen before midnight, but when VG speaks he is at 5 o’clock on Friday morning, and they are stuck at Myrdal station.

– I am very tired right now. There was a good atmosphere in the cafe and bar to begin with, but now it’s quiet. Some are freezing, he says.

He says it was awkward when the train first stopped, due to the violent weather outside.

– Outside there was a full storm and we saw nothing. It was a bit nasty, but it’s fine now. We have been given water, energy bars and some blankets.

He says they have not been given any alternative travel option, because cars or buses cannot get to the area due to the bad weather.

– We are being followed up with some information, but I don’t think they themselves have full control over what has happened, he says.

Will hit travelers Friday

Korslund in Bane Nor says that it will probably take time before they get into the area.

– Will this affect travelers in the morning hours and throughout the day?

– Yes. Bergensbanen is closed until further notice. I would encourage travelers to seek information from the train company they travel with, says Korslund.

The train company Vy reports that the section Voss – Finse is closed to train traffic due to power problems.

– You have to expect delays and settings, they write.
