Six men sentenced for blackmailing a Norwegian artist

On Friday afternoon, the verdict came from the Trøndelag district court, writes Adresseavisen. Five of the men are convicted of aggravated robbery or complicity in this:

* A 25-year-old Swedish man has been sentenced to four years and six months in prison.

* A 25-year-old from Eastern Norway has been sentenced to six years and six months in prison. He has also been convicted of aggravated money laundering and possession of 28.4 kilograms of hashish.

* A 26-year-old man has been sentenced to six years in prison and two months in prison for the same.

* A 20-year-old man from Eastern Norway to community punishment, while a 19-year-old from Trondheim is sentenced to prison for two years, one of which is suspended, for complicity in aggravated robbery.

* In addition, a 26-year-old man from Oslo is sentenced to community service for serious money laundering.

Abducted the son

It was on the night of 9 May 2023 that the son of the Norwegian artist was abducted and held for several hours. He was also subjected to violence, according to the indictment.

Following the kidnapping, the artist from Trondheim was subjected to serious threats. The musician transferred a total of NOK 750,000 to an account number between 25 May and 31 May 2023.

In the indictment, it emerged that one of the men threatened to kill the artist’s son if the artist did not pay an alleged drug debt.

The court has no doubt that the threats made caused serious fear of violence in the offended artist, writes Adresseavisen.

Was terrified

– The victim himself has explained that he was terrified, he was unable to function and was on constant alert and in fear of what would happen. The victim and the family moved to various secret addresses where they lived for several weeks and had armed police around them continuously, the judgment states.

Four of the defendants are jointly sentenced to pay compensation of NOK 642,127 to the victim. In addition, NOK 107,873 will be confiscated from the 26-year-old from Oslo, which belongs to the artist.

The 20-year-old is sentenced to pay NOK 20,000 in restitution to the victim, while the Swede, the 25-year-old and the 26-year-old from Eastern Norway are sentenced to pay NOK 130,000 in restitution.
