– I’m not really that surprised. says Randi Hettervik Flesjå, supporter coordinator in FK Haugesund.

Flesjå is a former supporters’ leader in Maakeberget – which is the club’s supporters’ club.

He’s probably a very good coach, but he hasn’t fit in. I think that something had to be done, and it had to be done now.

The Icelandic coach Oskar Hrafn Thorvaldsson was employed in Haugesund last autumn, but has now finished. The club itself reports this on its own website.

– We were looking forward to a long and good collaboration with Oskar, but it doesn’t always turn out the way you want and think. We thank him for the effort he has put into developing FK Haugesund and are now starting the process of finding his replacement. Our course and strategy for the club remains the same, says chairman Christoffer Falkeid of FK Haugesund in the press release.

Risks relegation

Thorvaldsson took over responsibility as coach after last year’s season ended. This season, he has led Haugesund in six league games, where Haugesund has six points and is in 13th place.

The Rogaland club have also lost their last three games and have lost all three home games they have played this season.

In addition, they were knocked out of the cup in the first round against the fourth division team Torvastad.

Flesjå thinks it is good that the club takes action so early.

– Then at least we have the opportunity to do something about it. With six points from six games played, we have to do something, otherwise we will be relegated – and then we won’t be promoted immediately, she says.

Temporary coaching team ready

The assistant coaches Sancheev Manoharan, Paul André Farstad and Kamil Rylka take over coaching responsibilities and will lead the team until a new permanent head coach is in place.

Manoharan led Haugesund in the last nine league games last year.

Supporter coordinator Flesjå has great faith in the coaching team that takes over the responsibility.

– When Farstad and Monoharan take over again, I trust that they will do just fine.

– Very surprising

The coach’s exit also received attention on social media on Friday morning.

– In all the world!, writes TV 2’s football expert Jesper Mathisen on X.

– It is very surprising. It seems that it came on very suddenly for all parties, says NRK’s football expert Carl-Erik Torp.
