They are ready for more singing and music in the Borgertoget on 17 May, and want to start a kind of “big choir” that will sing through the city’s streets on 17 May.
But they cannot do this alone.

Football and band
There is a lot of marching band and a lot of football in Borgertoget, the two point out.
– But there is too little singing!
– I have never actually gone on the Borgertoget, and that is because I have never been part of any sports team or other association that has gone on the train. And I think there are more than me. Now we want to invite everyone who wants to sing to join us in a big choir – for the occasion, says Ingrid.
Young and old
The two are committed to Skien as a singing municipality, and on that occasion they want to raise the joy of singing among people.
– This is a low threshold and we invite both young and old to join. We have three or four traditional May 17 songs that we will sing, and if you can’t sing, we will send out a link with lyrics and melody, says Hilde, and informs that a joint rehearsal will be set up before the national day.
– We practice in Borgestad church on Tuesday, and this is also announced on the Skien singing municipality’s website.
Less and less singing
Both mention that singing is important for people and does something with mental health.
– Unfortunately, there is less and less singing in school and we now hope to bring the singing tradition back again. We therefore invite everyone who wants to join us to join us and sing our way through the city’s streets. We form a large choir with all kinds of people. It should be informal and fun and the most important thing is that you want to sing with us on this day. We know there is a lot of interest in choirs in the city, but at the same time not everyone chooses to join a choir on a permanent basis. Then you have the opportunity here, the two conclude.
