Mayor Elisabeth Hammer (Kristelig Folkeparti) confirmed this in front of nearly 30 kindergarten children, contractors, project managers and employees of the municipality.
A representative from Bypakke Grenland was also present, because it is Bypakke Grenland that is behind this project.

– The new pavement is very good for us in Siljan, and especially those who go to kindergarten and school, said Mayor Hammer.
She expressed her gratitude to contractor Aktiv Veidrift AS, project manager and employees in the municipality. And it was not hidden that one was satisfied with the funds one had received from Bypakke Grenland – and that one hoped for more from there in the next round.
Construction started last summer, but the asphalting was only completed this spring.
The project has cost a total of NOK 14 million.
More traffic safe
Bypakke Grenland has described the project, and it says here that it provides “a better and more traffic-safe solution through the city center by building connected pavements”.
Attention is drawn to the fact that Sentrumsveien, where the pavement is laid, is a school road and that it is “not very safe for traffic. It is narrow in places with little distance between the carriageway and railings, there are flowing junctions and poor sight lines in places.”
In order to build the pavement, one had to demolish, mill and cut off the existing pavement. The tightening of the intersection Sentrumsveien and Gurholtveien has been carried out.
A road guardrail has been installed.
Stormwater solutions are in place, plus a retaining wall has been established.
The sidewalk must be approximately two meters wide.
