In the last five years, there have been several changes in the school management at Goa School. In March, it was announced that Per Sigurd Bethuelsen was to move to a new position as head of department at Kristianslyst School in Stavanger municipality. It has now been decided who will take over the position after him.

It is Marianne Breivik Ward who takes over as the new teaching inspector at Goa School on 1 August. This is confirmed by headmaster Anna-Maria Oanes to Bygdebladet.

Breivik Ward currently works as a contact teacher at the junior level at Harestad School. She is originally from Fogn in Stavanger municipality, but came to Randaberg in 2017. She has previously worked as a teacher both in the USA and on Finnøy. She started as a teacher at Harestad School in 2018.

The position of teaching inspector was open for applications until Friday 22 March, and Bethuelsen hoped for many good applicants. He told Bygdebladet in March that the role of inspector is an important position and provides opportunities to utilize his strengths.

Teaching inspectors are increasingly called head of department and in some places assistant principal. The person concerned works with the teaching offer and the day-to-day administrative running of the school. You work closely with the principal, teachers and other staff at the school. In many cases, the teaching inspector will act as the principal’s deputy.

The tasks will vary depending on which level in the school you work at, how big the school is and in which municipality you work – and often also overlap with the principal’s duties.

In the last five years, there have been changes in the school management at Goa School. The position of principal has passed from Eva Walde Lund (now principal at Harestad school) to Hilde Hesby (now head of department at Tastaveden school) and on to Anna-Maria Oanes.
