At 06:00 on Monday morning, the police were notified of a break-in at Fridalen school.

– It probably happened during the night. It is unclear if anything was stolen. But there has been quite a bit of clutter, so there is probably something to clean up, says station manager Lars Morten Lothe at Bergen city center police station.

The police have been on the scene and investigated.

– We have secured some tracks. It is possible that they got in through a window, says Lothe.

– Zalo, sour cream, egg…

Principal Harald Borge sent out a message to all parents on Monday. He says to BT that there are two rooms that have been inspected: the food and health room and the staff room.

– Food and health have been completely destroyed. It is smeared with ketchup, mustard, cocoa, cooking oil, Zalo, sour cream, eggs… There are such quantities everywhere that it is simply sad, says the head of the school.

In the staff room, he says, they have managed to gain control during the day. There was also a litter of eggs and broken bottles and potted plants that had been thrown out, says Borge.

He says cleaners are now busy cleaning the food and health room, but that they will probably spend both today and tomorrow – and perhaps even longer.

– There was supposed to be a lesson there today, but there are no eggs to cook with anyway. Most likely, the room will be closed for classes all week. Thursday and Friday are free. It will also be a challenge for serving food at SFO. But I think we have found a solution there.

– What do you think when that happens?

– I get the most upset, I have to admit. It’s just sad and sad. The vast majority enjoy the school and think it’s nice to be here. That someone can destroy to such an extent, that … I just get sad.

– Can be anyone

The only thing that is awake, according to the headmaster, is large quantities of chocolate milk from the milk cupboard. It is milk that should have been distributed through the school milk scheme and for which parents have paid.

– There is one tray left, so I would guess 50-60 cartons are gone.

The headmaster tries to be a bit optimistic about it all:

– The positive thing this time is that they have remembered to close the door to the fridge. So we can use the rest of the milk that is left.

It is not the first time there has been a break-in at the school. Last autumn, several children allegedly broke in to hunt for chocolate milk, and at the latest a few weeks ago, in mid-April, milk was also stolen. On the last occasion, the door to the milk cupboard was left open.

– Has there been a lot of this at school?

– It has been a little before. But after we opened up activities at school in the afternoons and evenings at weekends, I haven’t had to move out once since before Christmas.

Principal Borge says they have their suspicions, but that there are things he wants to raise with the police first. He believes the break-in happened late Sunday afternoon or early Sunday evening.

– They have managed to open a window, it seems. We may suspect that there is someone who knows which windows may have slightly defective locks. It could be anyone, but it seems like they know the building inside out.
