– He has done terrorist things

--

– What are you doing?

– So, I made a video earlier today. There I said that Støre is not a terrorist, but I also said that when the Norwegian state finances Israel’s warfare, it is a way of supporting terrorism.

This is what Syver Kleve Kolstad, secretary general of Red Youth, told VG on Saturday evening.

Confused? It is not so surprising, because it has been quite a day for the youth party to Rødt:

But, as if that wasn’t enough, the secretary-general has also posted a video on TikTok. There he says that there is “no doubt that Støre supports terrorism”.

But the main message was something else: In the video, he primarily criticizes AUF for “using 22 July as a counter-argument against people who criticize Støre”.

– For me, it is completely reprehensible, says Kolstad in conclusion in the video.

Terrorism

  • There is no generally accepted definition of terrorism today, according to PST.
  • In the Security Act, acts of terrorism are defined as: “illegal use of, or threat of use of, force or violence against persons and property, in an attempt to put pressure on the country’s authorities or the population or society at large in order to achieve political, religious or ideological goals ».
  • Many believe Israel has the right to defend itself after Hamas carried out the terrorist attack on 7 October
  • At the same time, there have been accusations against Israel of war crimes

The general secretary also regrets afterwards that his video was discussed by the press and in social media.

– I now understand in retrospect that when the “Labor Party” and “terror” are mentioned in the same case, it is unfortunate. At the same time, I believe that the Labor Party should respond to the main message in our criticism, not just the unfortunate use of the term terror, he says to VG.

Is Støre a terrorist, or is he not a terrorist?

– What does Rød Ungdom mean – is Støre a terrorist, or is he not a terrorist?

– Rød Ungdom does not believe that Støre is a terrorist. Rød Ungdom believes that what Israel is doing to the Palestinians is terrorism. And that Norway, through the Oil Fund’s investments, supports this terrorism. That is Rød Ungdom’s message, Kolstad replies, and adds:

– We shall not use such rhetoric. Although I said that Støre has done terrorist things, I now see that I probably shouldn’t have used that word at all.

– What does Rød Ungdom put in “terrorist things”?

– For example, the Oil Fund’s investments in Israel, and that he and the Ap government bombed Libya in 2011.

– But then what is the difference between being a terrorist and carrying out terrorism? Where does the divide go, according to Red youth?

– My point is that the term terror, i.e. we should not use the term terror at all. War profiteer is a more descriptive term. The oil fund is a war profiteer in the war with Israel.

– Støre is a war profiteer

– Is Støre a war profiteer?

– Støre is a war profiteer. Although he does not profit from it personally, Støre pursues a policy in which Norway prophesies Israel’s warfare against the Palestinian population.

Rød Ungdom had a leadership meeting on Saturday where they discussed Kaur’s TikTok video.

– What did you come to during the meeting?

– In essence, we agreed that Støre should not be called a terrorist, Kolstad replies. He points out that the youth party does not think it is a good way to criticize someone.

– It is not a rhetoric that we can stand behind, for example as a result of 22 July.

– To VG, the group leader in Rødt Porsgrunn said that he did not perceive the apology as proper, but rather that Kaur apologized for derailing the debate. What are you sorry for?

– We would like to apologize for bringing in this term of terrorism in such a diffuse way, it added nothing to the debate we really wanted to promote.

Storting representative for Red

– Bjørnar Moxnes writes on Facebook tonight that he “has been contacted by several Rødt people who are counting the buttons on whether they should continue in the party or opt out” – what do you think about that?

– I think that’s an incredible shame: I think that there is basically no big difference between what Rød Ungdom and Rødt mean.
