The queues are on the bypass to the center and from the north towards Åsane centre.

– That there is an increased amount of traffic is as expected, says traffic operator in the Norwegian Public Roads Administration Ronny Sleire.

The map service Google Traffic shows queues in the entire area.

It is the upgrading work in and around the Glaskartunnel that is the reason for the long queues.

Sleire asks motorists to primarily use the detour via the E16 Arnavegen and Hardangervegen towards Nesttun.

– We hope Ervikveien will only be used for local traffic, so that the emergency services can get there, says Sleire.

Tourists Alicia and Loïc from Nantes in France sit in the queue.

They have driven from Oslo and had no idea that the main road into Bergen was closed today.

They were just going to stroll around Bergen and enjoy themselves on this sunny day.

Traffic flows smoothly from Tertnes and towards the city centre.

BT’s photographer Marita Aarekol says that the drive from Vågsbotn to Tertnes took around half an hour.
