– There were a total of 89 vehicles through the checkpoint and most of them were nothing to remark on and were sent on after a check of weight and a general check of the vehicle, says inspector Bengt Asle Idsø in the National Road Administration.

By checking that driving and rest time are in accordance with regulations and that the vehicle is not loaded with more than permitted, the Swedish Road Administration works to avoid social dumping in the industry.

– 12 drivers were checked for driving and rest time. A total of 290 driving days were checked. These checks revealed deficiencies in seven of the drivers. There were a total of 13 minor violations that resulted in a written warning to the driver and one violation that resulted in a fine of NOK 1,000 for the driver and NOK 2,000 for the company, says Idsø and adds that a further five drivers had no violations of driving and rest time.

– A vehicle did not have valid documentation for transport in the vehicle. Here a ban on use was imposed until valid documentation is in place in the vehicle, or cargo has been unloaded and the vehicle can drive empty back to where the company is domiciled. The company was charged a fee of NOK 6,000 for this matter, adds Idsø.

The use of seat belts was also checked in two buses. There were a total of 31 passengers here and all passengers were wearing seat belts.

A tractor with a trailer had goods sticking out of the back of the trailer. This had to be noted before further driving was permitted. A foreign vehicle was missing a license plate. Here, the driver was fined NOK 500 for not bringing a vehicle license. The person had to document ownership of the vehicle before it could drive on.

A vehicle had not adequately secured its load. The driver had to secure the load properly and safely before further driving was permitted. A vehicle had not paid the fee for towing a trailer. A report was sent to the tax authorities for this matter.
